dates 240g
walnuts 12og
baking soda a pinch
eggs 6
vanilla essence 1 tsp

In the mixture add only egg yolks 1 at a time. Beat till creamy. Add vanilla essence and mix. Now take a metal tablespoon and fold in the date and walnut mixture.(Folding in means to use the spoon to cut into tbe mixture first at the centre from top to down and then turn clockwise.) Continue to add and fold in till the mixture is mixed well. Now do the same for the sieved flour, 1 spoon at a time. Do this till all the flour is used up. Prehaeat the oven at 180 degrees. Beat egg whites till stiff.(the whites should stand in peaks and should not fall when the bowl is turned upside down.) Fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites into the cake mixture 1 spoon at a time till all the egg white is used up. Pour the mixture into the greased and lined cake tin and bake for about 1 hr or till done. The cake will be done when a toothpick when inserted in the centre of the cake comes out clean.
